Memory Ball

A night to be seen, loved, heard, and remembered.

Imagine slowly losing the ability to read and write after so many years. Think of what it feels like to start forgetting the names of familiar places and much worse, the names of your loved ones. Imagine blanking out and getting puzzled as to where you are and what time it is. Think of how it is to forget how to do your everyday routine after doing it for years. These are some of the things that a person with dementia goes through. It’s confusing, alienating and scary and unfortunately, there is no cure for this disease.

According to the World Health Organization, dementia is “currently the seventh leading cause of death and one of the major causes of disability and dependency among older people globally.” Worldwide, more than 55 million people have dementia, with Alzheimer’s disease being the most common form of it. People with dementia get worse over time and need to be watched and taken cared of 24/7. This is where organizations, such as the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, come in. Aside from funding different research programs on dementia, they also advocate for the rights of people with this disease and provide support for them, their families, and their caregivers. On November 3, the Young Leaders Council of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto will be hosting “Memory Ball” at the Berkeley Church, Toronto, Canada. An event to raise funds for the different programs that the organization offers, it promises to be a fun night filled with love, laughter, and compassion.

Join us for a remarkable evening at the 9th annual Memory Ball, taking place on November 3, 2023, hosted by the Young Leaders Council of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto.
