Mizen to Malin Challenge 2023

Time to take out your bicycles and cycle against suicide!

Did you know that globally, suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among people aged 15-29 years old? And that over 700,000 people die by suicide worldwide each year? For this reason, the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), with the World Health Organization as co-sponsor, announced September 10 as World Suicide Prevention Day to raise awareness that suicide can be prevented.

On September 9 -16, Cycle Against Suicide, a charity based in Ireland focused on preventing suicide and promoting mental health wellness, is having the Mizen to Malin Challenge 2023. The goal of this cycling event is to spread the word that suicide can be prevented through proper support and intervention programs.

By joining our Mizen to Malin challenge for World Suicide Prevention Day and Month, you are amplifying the message that suicide is preventable. You will be helping Cycle Against Suicide raise awareness. encouraging supportive conversations and help-seeking behaviour and ultimately, help give hope to those who are struggling.

Furthermore, you will be supporting Cycle Against Suicide’s commitment to suicide prevention.  Through our programmes in schools, communities, and workplaces, we weave prevention into the very fabric of communities.

Please note:  This is a fully supported event. It caters for all abilities from speed of 18 kmph, with cyclists grouped according to speed and abilities.
