Moira Fund To Hold Charity Ball 2009: Blacktie Ball

Moira Fund to hold charity ball

A BLACK-TIE ball will be held in Glasgow next month to raise money for a charity set up in memory of murder victim Moira
Jones. Hundreds of people are expected to attend the event at the city’s Radisson Hotel to raise money and awareness for the Moira Fund. Organised by Moira’s boyfriend Paul Thompson, the Moira Fund’s inaugural ball is one of the major events to be held. The fund was set up after Moira, 40, was murdered near her home in Queen’s Park in May 2008. Guest speaker at the event on Saturday September 26 will be the charity’s patron Elaine C Smith and actor Dave Anderson will be the MC for the night. A grand auction will be held and a holiday to Egypt will be one of the prizes up for grabs. Others include a guitar signed by the Proclaimers and a round of golf at The Open Championship course at Carnoustie.
Music will be provided by the Floorstompers Band whose keyboard player is Jim Prine of Deacon Blue fame.
