Mum And Daughter In Rare Golf Win 2009: 12th 2009

Mum and daughter in rare golf win

12th May 2009 SATURDAY’S division one provided a rare occurrence for ladies’ golf when a mother and daughter took out the trophies.
Miriam Newman won the par event with a great score of plus seven from her mother Betty Smith, who returned a plus two. Her success for the day will result in Miriam’s handicap being reduced by a couple of strokes to 13. Thea Goodwin sharpened her skills earlier in the week at a refresher clinic held by the club pro and declared the money well-spent after she won division two. She was a clear standout with her score of plus six from four others on plus three. In the men’s competition Chris Rowe defeated Ross McNeill in A grade, while Anthony Pashley had to be content with a consolation ball after a count-back. Philip Warren was two strokes clear in his victory in B grade from Ken Brown, who was the runner-up with a score of plus four.
The competition will be finalised this weekend with a stroke event and monthly medals for all.
