Musical raised RM171 900 for four charities

The money was handed over to representatives from the Little Sisters of the Poor, Asia Community Service, Shalom House and Soroptimist International Penang (SIP)
in Komtar recently. The first three organisations each got 30% of the amount while the remaining 10% went to SIP. Event organising secretary Khor Ai-Na said a total of RM209,786 was raised from ticket sales and donations during the sold-out concert which was held at Dewan Sri Pinang. The concert saw the talented dancers of Australian dance group Planet Dance Sydney and Penang’s very own Priscilla Ballet Academy performing numbers from popular musicals including the Phantom of the Opera, Little Mermaid, Hairspray, Dreamgirls, High School Musical, Moulin Rouge, Billy Elliot and Mamma Mia. Sister Lucy Thoo, who represented the Little Sisters of the Poor to receive the donation, said the home was grateful to the public for their generous contributions to its building fund. “We should be moving into our new building in the next few months. “Although the main structure is complete, the interior is not done yet.
“We hope the public will continue to support us,” she added.
