STIRLING’S favourite music festival is now only a couple of weeks away.
And this year’s Scribbler’s Picnic at Bridgehaugh on Sunday, August 30 promises to be another fun-filled fiesta of music of all kinds. Whilst many festivals across the country including larger scale events such as Connect and Live at Loch Lomond have been cancelled, the small team of organisers have managed to beat the recession blues and are on track to host another fun event. Last year saw record numbers flock to the site and organiser Ted Christopher hopes music fans young and old will come along to enjoy the fun and help smash the group’s fundraising target. He said: “Last year was possibly the best Scribbler’s Picnic yet and we want to give a heart-felt thanks to everyone who came along and made the day such a success – performers, volunteers and of course the public. “We have handed over more than £40,000 to our five nominated charities since the event started – which we are all absolutely delighted about. The people of Stirling should be really proud as that money has benefitted thousands of families across the area. We would love the community to come along and show their support and help us smash the £50,000 target this year.” Joining the list of patrons are singers Isla St Clair and Eric Bogle – and the legendary Bogle will end proceedings with an evening concert in the rugby club as part of his international farewell tour.
