Friday, 24 April 2009 A CARLISLE mothers’s pride in her 19-year-old son, killed in the line of duty by a suicide bomber, will ensure
the brave soldier’s memory is never forgotten in his home city. Ten months after her only boy David was killed serving in Afghanistan, Pam Murray has spoken for the first time about the day her world came crashing down. And she is now ready to “start living her life again†spurred on by plans for a bench in tribute to David set to be unveiled in Carlisle city centre and a list of charity events about to be held in the young private’s honour . David Murray of 2nd Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, died on June 8, 2008 with fellow Para and friend Private Nathan Cuthbertson, and Private Daniel Gamble, 22, during a foot patrol in the Upper Sangin Valley, in the country’s volatile Helmand Province. Pam, who also has three daughters – Carrie, 24, Stacey, 22 and Eleanor, eight – said: “I haven’t been able to speak about it until now. “But thanks to my family and friends, David’s friends and my colleagues and neighbours, we have learned how to start living again instead of just existing.
“David was the most amazing, brave and dependable young man you could ever meet.
