Australian writers play an important role in shaping the country’s literary and cultural landscape, but emerging writers can face challenges finding opportunities, mentorship, and professional support. Fundraising can help literary organisations continue providing programs that nurture new voices and strengthen the future of writing.

Writing NSW has supported the writing community for 35 years, helping nurture emerging writers, mentor careers, and contribute to a thriving literary culture across New South Wales.

The Night of Letters 2026 will take place on Thursday, 22 October 2026, from 6:30 PM at Writing NSW, Callan Park, Lilyfield. Described as an evening of words, wine, and storytelling, Night of Letters is Writing NSW’s major fundraising event in support of Australian writers.

The inaugural Night of Letters was held in 2025 and attracted a sold-out audience. The event returns in 2026 for its second year, bringing together supporters of Australian literature for an evening celebrating the power of writing and storytelling. Funds raised through the event will help Writing NSW continue its work supporting writers, particularly through initiatives that nurture emerging voices, develop careers, and strengthen the literary community.

For more than three decades, Writing NSW has provided a platform for writers at different stages of their careers. Its ongoing work helps create opportunities for writers to develop their craft, connect with others in the industry, and contribute to Australia’s literary future.  Night of Letters offers more than an evening of entertainment—it is an opportunity to celebrate Australian writing while helping ensure emerging and established writers have the support they need to continue creating.
