Relay for Life kickoff A “Carnival of Hope” open house will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 24 at the Des Plaines Library, 1501 Ellinwood St. The event will kick off the American Cancer Society’s annual Des Plaines/Park Ridge Relay For Life slated for June 26 at Maine West High School, 1755 S. Wolf Road. The open house will feature games, treats and fun facts about the upcoming relay. Senior Job Club Tuesday Schaumburg, Palatine and Wheeling townships will host their Senior Job Club at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, for job seekers 45 and over at Schaumburg Town Hall, 1 Illinois Blvd. in Hoffman Estates. This month, the Census Bureau, Community Nutrition Network and Illinois Employment Training Center will be there to talk about their services. There will be some type of position there for everyone, from entry level to professional and everything in between. The club is open to all and will include distribution of its job bank, a listing of more than 100 open positions in the area. WACO to host 13th charity ball The Woodfield Area Children’s Organization will present its 13th annual charity ball fundraiser, “Hot Havana Nights,” on Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Schaumburg Marriott, 50 N. Martingale Road, in Schaumburg. The black tie-optional event will open with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 6 p.m. The program will begin at 7 p.m., followed by dinner and the live auction at 7:30 p.m. and dancing to the Gold Coast Orchestra from 9:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. The cost is $150 per person.
