AN OFFICER cadet is hoping to fire himself to success at this year’s Edinburgh marathon in aid of veterans’ charity Erskine.
Alistair Guzowski, aged 19, from the Royal Regiment of Artillery Gun Troop at the City of Edinburgh Universities Officers’ Training Corps (CEUOTC) will pound 26.2 miles through Scotland’s capital during the event on May 31. Alistair from Dumfries will join eight other Gunners, who are also running individually and in the Erskine Gunners relay team, covering a total of 131 miles. The group hope to raise a record-breaking amount of cash for the veterans’ charity through their Erskine challenge. Alistair said: “We were going to run the marathon anyway and we were thinking it would be a good idea to run for a worthwhile charity. “Since Erskine has a home in Gilmerton, Edinburgh, and also the CEUOTC is based here, it made sense to raise money for them as it is a cause we strongly support.” To pledge support to James visit www.justgiving.com/alistairguzowski.
