AN ARTISTIC father and son are once again holding their annual sale in a beautiful garden setting, in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.
Avid fundraiser Clem Spencer, from Plymstock, holds the event every year with his son Tim and is this year throwing open the doors of his garden to the public for the 18th time. A quarter of the money from the sales will go to the hospice over the years the pair have raised more than £20,000 for the charity. At Clem’s home at Springfield Close in Elburton, people can enjoy and buy his oil paintings, which feature local flora and fauna including seascapes, birds, landscapes and flowers. He has won several awards for his work in recent years. Following a private view next Friday, the exhibition will be open to the public next Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Paintings, prints and cards by Clem, a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and the Society of Floral Painters, will also be on sale, along with greeting cards. Tim Spencer trained in forestry at Dartington Hall and now works as a woodturner, incorporating natural edges and features in the wood he uses into his artworks. His woodturnings will also be on sale at the event.
St Luke’s Hospice, based in Turnchapel, cares for more than 2,000 patients and carers a year, providing specialist medical and nursing care, and supporting the patient, family and friends emotionally and spiritually.
