News-Leader Staff • August 14, 2009 The Ozark Mountain Parrot Heads will party with a purpose again today and Saturday at Table Rock Lake,
and everyone’s invited. The 8th annual Phlock at the Rock starts at 5 p.m. today at Rock Lane Resort, on Indian Point Road near Silver Dollar City. The music, food and frolic event raises money for the American Diabetes Association. The Ozark Mountain Parrot Heads have raised $56,500 for the charity through its events. Friday events include games, open microphone for homegrown singers and musicians, and at 8 p.m. the Texas Beach Band “Hanna’s Reef” will perform, led by Jerry Diaz. The group specializes in tropical music with guitars, steel drums and Latin percussion with a rock and roll beat. Gates open again at 5 p.m. Saturday with games and entertainment at the upper pool of the resort all day.
Events include open mic session, “horse” races, crazy hat contest, Hula Hoop and limbo, silent and live auctions.
