PAUL NEWMAN NEWMANS WIDOW TO HOST KIDS CAMP GALA 2009: Paul Newmans

PAUL NEWMAN NEWMANS WIDOW TO HOST KIDS CAMP GALA

PAUL NEWMAN’s widow is to host a benefit for the kids camp charity the movie icon founded.
The actor created the Hole in the Wall Camps for children with serious illnesses and life-threatening conditions and Joanne Woodward is keen for the cause to continue. She’ll host an all-star gala at New York’s Lincoln Center on 8 June (09) to remember her late husband and the camps he created 20 years ago. Many of the stars on the bill, including Julia Roberts, Harry Connick Jr., Art Garfunkel and Newman’s longtime pal Robert Redford, will be donating their performance fee to the charity and the Newman’s Own Foundation will cover additional costs. A spokesman for the event says, “All expenses of the event have been underwritten, allowing 100 per cent of tickets to go to the Hole in the Wall Camps Foundation.” Newman lost his battle with cancer in September (08).
