World renowned Spanish opera singer Placido Domingo and opera diva Katherine Jenkins performed in Athens, Greece toraisefunds toaid the conflict in Darfur.
The 66 year-old tenor and maestro, who celebrated 40 years in opera last month, sang with Mezzo Soprano Katherine Jenkins and the ERT State Symphony Orchestra, under the conduct of Eugene Kohn.
The concert, which was held to aid the children of the ongoing and much publicised humanitarian crisis in the Darfur region of western Sudan, was organized by Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders.
Medicins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Bordersis a private, not-for-profit organization focusing on the international medical humanitarian emergency needs of people affected by armed conflict, epidemics and natural or man-made disasters.
Placido Domingo, Katherine Jenkins, the ERT State Symphony Orchestra and Eugene Kohn performed the concert for Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders on June 27, in the all-marble Panathenaean Stadium where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896.
