POETRY IN THE AIR 2009: Poetry Filled

POETRY IN THE AIR

POETRY filled the air in a celebration at Shaikha Hessa Girl’s School, Riffa, yesterday.
About 30 students took part in the school’s seventh annual poetry competition and all were honoured with prizes for their talents. They were delighted that two very special poets, Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa patronised and attended the event, at which they also recited some of their own works. Shaikh Nasser is Royal Charity Organisation chairman and Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation president, while Shaikh Isa is Supreme Council for Youth and Sports vice-president and Bahrain Olympic Committee president. Present were Defence Minister and school chairman Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, managing director Shaikha Hessa bint Ali Al Khalifa, dignitaries, parents and students. Shaikha Hessa welcomed Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Isa in her speech and thanked them for attending the event.
“I am grateful to Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Isa for patronising our annual poetry event,” said Shaikha Hessa.
