Saturday’s cold weather didn’t stop folks from jumping in the Mon River to help out a charity.
The 5th annual Polar Plunge had folks sinking themselves in freezing cold water to raise money for West Virginia’s Special Olympics. About 130 plungers attended the event. Even WDTV’s own Scott Snider decided to make the jump. Prizes were handed out for the individual and team who raised the most money, as well as prizes for the best costumes.
Organizers say this event gives folks a chance to do something fun, as well as help out a good cause. They expect to raise more than $25,000 for the Special Olympics.
