Police officer sets off on mammoth charity trek

Get involved A POLICE officer is hitting the highway for an epic trek across Europe to raise funds for his local school which has
just 38 pupils. Sergeant Steve Wilson from Stockton Police’s Crime Management Unit will set off on Sunday for the two-week trip to Croatia via France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Slovenia. The event is organised by the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club – a worldwide club of law enforcement officers. Steve, 49, will be travelling with an ex-Cleveland Police Sergeant, a retired North Yorkshire officer and a serving North Yorkshire officer. “The kids are also getting involved and are paying &pound1 to estimate the total mileage covered on the round trip which will start and end at the school gates.” Stephen Bailey, head teacher at the school, which is near Northallerton, said: “This road trip organised by Sgt Wilson and The Blue Knights will provide a fantastic educational opportunity for the children.
“As the Blue Knights travel through the other countries on their way to Croatia, the children will be monitoring their progress, learning about the different countries and raising money for the school at the same time. It is very heart-warming to know that Sgt Wilson has appreciated the education the school has provided for his three girls over the years.”
