The Heart of Illinois 9-12 Project has announced plans for a nonpartisan, peaceful “We the People Protest” at noon Sept.
17 at the Peoria County Courthouse courtyard. The idea is for voters to express their concerns and demand elected officials represent the principles and values of the Constitution. The event is being held on the same day the Constitution was signed in 1787. The Peoria 9-12 project formed earlier this year in response to a conservative movement by Glenn Beck. Beck says he wants Americans to reach back to core principles and values seen after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Those core principles include believing in God and family, being honest and having a right to your own opinion, according to Beck. Values include humility, charity, sincerity, hard work and personal responsibility.
