Readers Nominate Their Star Performers 2009: April 25

Readers nominate their Star Performers

April 25, 2009 I would like to take this opportunity to recognize those individuals and organizations that assisted in bringing awareness to child abuse
and neglect prevention activities throughout the month of April. Recently, the community participated in a “We Have a Voice” child abuse prevention walk at Worthen Arena. I’d like to thank Ball State University for making Worthen Arena available to us. More than 200 individuals participated in the event, which drew greater awareness regarding child abuse issues. The Prevent Child Abuse Council of Delaware County has done a wonderful job in tackling this issue. In addition, I’d like to thank the planning committee: Eileen Moore, chairman, and members Peggy Reid, Teri Rhonemus, Ginger Jennings, Brenda Irelan, Ryan Rhoads, Margaret Richardson, Crista Milholland and Deceil Moore. In addition, I would like to thank once again The Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County Inc., the George and Frances Ball Foundation and the Ball Brothers Foundation for their initial support in establishing the Child Advocacy Resource Center located at the Suzanne Gresham Center. — Bob Coles, vice president of Clinical Services, Meridian Services. This is an open letter to the family and friends of Trista Ridge of Farmland. The benefit organized by The Flying Eagles from Muncie Eagles Aerie 231 was a great success. We would like to thank the Farmland Cultural Center and its staff and volunteers for letting us have this benefit for Trista and her family at their center. They were all very kind to all of us, and we will never forget their generosity. To everyone who bought in food or made a donation, thank you, it was greatly appreciated. Your hearts are big, and your kindness will always be remembered, here on Earth and in heaven. God bless each and everyone of you and thank you all again. — The Flying Eagles of Muncie Eagles Aerie 231 The campaign’s success was made possible by those who allowed their facilities to be used as collection sites: Albany Elementary, DeSoto Elementary, Eaton Elementary, Perry Elementary, Pleasant View Elementary, Royerton Elementary, Selma Elementary, Selma Middle School, Wapahani High School, Wes-Del Elementary, Wes-Del Middle/High School, Yorktown Elementary, Yorktown Middle School and Yorktown High School
Also, a generous donation was made by Brinkman’s Children’s Shoe Center in Muncie.
