May 8, 2009 This weekend will feature a little something for everyone whether you love arts, recreation, charity or even dear, old mom.
Looking for Mother’s Day activities There’s Moms on the Run, a crafts fair and free golf rounds &mdash you can even “Hypnotize Yo Mama.” For events that don’t necessarily have to do with mom, the weekend also offers a full plate that includes the Reno River Festival, which should benefit from a forecast that calls for clear skies all weekend long. Here’s a sampling of what’s in store for this weekend: Mother’s Day ACTIVITIES SATURDAY o Crafts fair: Mother’s Day Delight Craft Fair & Show from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Shopper’s Square, 213 East Plumb Lane. Attendees can register for a chance to win prizes. Free. Details: 775-323-0430. 0 Hypnotize mom: Chris Cady will rename his show “Hypnotize Yo Mama” at 8 p.m. at the Pioneer Center in honor of Mother’s Day. Entry to the “fast-trance hypnosis” show will be free for moms who attend with at least one paying member. Cost for non-mons is $25, $20 for seniors and children age 17 and younger. SUNDAY o Moms on the Run: The 5K and 10K run/walk. kicks off from Reno High School, 395 Booth St. A 9 a.m. start is planned for the 5K race, the Gino 10K run and the 3K/5K Bon Bon Walk ‘N Talk. A race for ages 10 and younger begins at 11 a.m. and is a quarter mile walk/run. Proceeds will be donated to specific needs of women’s cancers in Northern Nevada. Details: 775-826-8117.
o Arts in Bloom: The seventh annual Arts in Bloom Festival will honor moms from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sparks Marina by featuring work by area artists. In addition to a performance by “American Idol” finalist Elliot Yamin at 1 p.m., the event will also give moms an assist with several activities for kids.
