Rock Bands Reunite In Benefit 2009: Asheville Mdash

Rock bands reunite in benefit

ASHEVILLE &mdash Back in the day, straight-up rock ‘n’ roll ruled the clubs in Asheville.
Now, four bands from that thriving local rock scene of the late 1980s and early ‘90s are reuniting for one night only in support of a great cause. Question: How long has it been since any of these bands have played together Lasher: (For Mother Soul), 1993-94 was about the last time that we played together. I think that all these guys kind of dispersed by about 1995. When I dropped out of the scene, though, I really dropped out of it. Got a day job, family. I guess we all collectively had the feeling that after that time (the rock scene) just sort of fizzled. Q: What was the rock scene like here in Asheville when you were playing and touring regularly Lasher: Well, we didn’t have an Orange Peel at that time, but the clubs we did have, 45 Cherry, Gatsby’s, The Brass Tap &mdash those were all rock clubs. They provided all of us with really great places to play. Asheville was a rock ‘n’ roll town. Most people don’t really know that. Q: How did the Asheville Rewind event idea come about Q: What are you most excited about with regard to the Asheville Rewind event
Lasher: I think, for me, it’s the emotional aspect of getting all these guys together again, having our friends and families share in this night, and raising money for the community. I don’t know if any of us want to go back and live the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle, but we do want to go back for one night and really move people. There’s really nothing like having a sold-out crowd singing along every word to your songs that you wrote.
