Rockland native Chip Perfetuo rides in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC) every year.
He brings new people to the event and he gets them interested in the cause. He loves every minute of it. Every year, more than 5,000 cyclists take part in the PMC, the nation’s pioneer charity bike-a-thon, which is now in its 30th year. A Norwell resident, Perfetuo has been riding in the PMC for 11 years. This year, he brought his brother along for his first-ever riding challenge. Many riders are seasoned cyclists or tri-athletes, while others are PMC weekend warriors, having trained for this event alone. Of the 5,000 riders, nearly 300 cancer survivors ride each year to give back.
The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge is a fully supported bike-a-thon that runs through 46 cities and towns across Massachusetts.
