Roger Federer Charity Achievements

The Roger Federer Foundation contributions to society.

Roger Federer is known for his remarkable record of grand slam victories and his modest style of play. But what some may not be aware of are his contributions outside of tennis. Federer travels out of his way to countries such as South Africa and India to offer charity and funding to those in poor health conditions, scarceness, or victims of natural catastrophes.

The Roger Federer Foundation that was established in 2003 has helped promote access to sports, education, and play and improvement of the conditions where there are insufficient funds available.

His foundation has long- term partnerships with selected organizations and concentrates in Africa and Switzerland. More than 40,000 children are benefiting from this organization in the countries of Ethiopia, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Switzerland.

Federer also made personal donation to UNICEF to help the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster by sending out relief funds. With that, he was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF in 2006. His humble passion, commitment and humanitarian efforts made a difference and set him apart from the rest of the sports world. UNICEFs executive director explains that their interest in appointing him as a Goodwill Ambassador was inspired by his subjective story and the idea of using his fame to benefit the children for a greater cause.
