Carly Rees 18th August 2009 A CONVOY of 33 four-wheel-drives headed north last week for the Outback Getaway Tour organised by the Rotary
club of Toowoomba East. David Dwan, John Constable and Tony Cowley of Allora joined the line up to Injune where they covered 3128 kilometres on the eight day tour of the cattle country of Queensland. The Rotary club organised the trip and raised money for different organisations like the Salvation Army along the way by holding auctions each night. The trip involved a two-night stopover at Cobbold Gorge where there was an opportunity for travellers to experience the gorge by helicopter, bus and boat tours. The Denny’s Band with John and Bob Denny and Ted and John Cowley from Allora were the entertainment, as they are each year. Mr Dwan said the event has been on for several years and Mr Constable was the reason he got involved. “It was a great and good trip and was very interesting,†Mr Dwan said.
“I am going to go again, they do different trips to different places each year.â€
