22, 1941, in Corsicana Died: May 10, 2009, in San Antonio Survived by: Her husband, Joe Carroll Rust, of San Antonio two sons, Joe Carroll Rust Jr. of San Antonio John Cape Rust, of Leavenworth, Kan. and four grandchildren. Services: A memorial service will take place at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, with a reception following at the San Antonio Country Club. Her ashes will be interred in the Martindale-Cape-Rust section of the City Cemetery in San Marcos. For more than 40 years, Margie Rust threw great parties for good causes. Rust, a longtime charity volunteer who wrote a column for the San Antonio Light and the North San Antonio Times, died Sunday of kidney failure. She was 67.
“Maybe she’s organizing a gala in heaven,” said her husband, Joe Carroll Rust, former associate editor of the Light and former educational services manager of the Express-News.
