BuskerFest is a fun and funky festival of street performers that takes place August 23-26th, 2012 in the St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood (in downtown Toronto). Epilepsy Toronto is a not-for-profit organization that has been providing support for people living with epilepsy for over 50 years. The organization provides counselling, employment support, advocacy, and education to help people living with epilepsy. Scotiabank BuskerFest is Epilepsy Torontos largest fundraising event of the year.
There are many volunteer roles available at BuskerFest with a common theme of fundraising to support Epilepsy Toronto and raising epilepsy awareness. Most volunteers will be collecting donations at the festival gates or selling souvenirs. We have a few other front-line volunteer roles as well as a number of behind-the-scenes roles. Other roles are pre-festival to promote the event or help out at BuskerBall, our VIP gala event.
All volunteers (new and returning) are required to:
Attend a training session prior to the festival
Be 15 years of age or older (or accompanied by a parent/guardian)
Commit to and complete a minimum of 10 hours (about 2 shifts over the 4-day festival) to receive a reference letter/volunteer hours letter
Be proficient in English and have good communication skills
Be on your feet for the majority of your shift (average 4-5 hours long)
Be outgoing, enthusiastic, vibrant, and creative (previous fundraising or sales experience is an asset)
To apply:
Visit our volunteer scheduling website at http://epilepsytoronto.volunteerhub.com and create a profile, or use your existing profile from previous events. Deadline to apply is Friday, August 10, 2012.
