Silver Lake Junior and Senior High School students got to see some of their teachers get their groove on at a special assembly Wednesday
morning. The teachers’ encouraged students, “Test your best” and, “Don’t let the sounds of those around you drive you crazy,” sung to the strains of “Take It Easy.” The performance and assembly was meant to motivate students for the statewide assessment tests. Silver Lake’s 7th, 8th, and 11th graders began reading assessment tests Wednesday. Principal Larry Winter says 7th, 8th and 10th grade math and 7th and 11th grade science testing will come later in the spring. Winter says teachers spend all year preparing students. He says the assembly was meant to drum up enthusiasm for the testing season.
Students fueled up for the task. The staff cooked up a pancake breakfast for them.
