Sixteen still standing in Liberty Idol contest

The contest is from 7 p.m.
to 10 p.m. The Liberty Idol Contest, a 13-week competition, held auditions for the first four weeks and 65 people were selected. The audience also has an opportunity to win. This week Spinx is giving away a $100 gas card to someone in the audience and Mane Tamers is going to select someone to do a complete makeover with the revealing at the end of the show. So far more than $1,000 in cash and prizes have been awarded to people in the audience. In 2008 more than 50,000 people attended Liberty Idol. This year is pacing to exceed those numbers with an event that is family oriented, safe and fun for the entire community. More than 1,500 people came out May 23 for Memorial Day weekend show. Those wishing to attend the concert can begin setting up lawn chairs at 2 p.m., a spokesperson for the competition said. There are different guest judges each week and this week Nicholas Bishop, 2008 Liberty Idol winner, is the special guest judge along with Lisa Rollins from WORD.
Liberty Idol is attracting attention from many people in the recording and acting community. Producers from Nashville as well as casting directors and talent scouts from Atlanta have contacted promoters of the event with plans to attend.
