JOHNSBURG – What do a softball game, a food pantry and the chief of police have in common They’re all part of the upcoming
Good Guys versus Good Guys Charity Softball Event. The game will be between managers from the Christian Softball League and members of the McHenry Police Department and McHenry Township Fire Protection softball team. Money raised from the event will go to the FISH Food Pantry, said Doug Peterson, who is organizing the Aug. 29 event on behalf of the Christian Softball League. “The idea came to me [of] let’s put a purpose behind this game,” he said. “And 100 percent of it will go to FISH.” Andrea Franzen, FISH’s executive director, said she was thrilled about the fundraiser. “It comes at a perfect time for us,” she said. “We’re serving more people and as always we’re needing more money and more donations.” Along with McHenry Police Chief Bill Brogan, Mayor Sue Low and state Rep. Mark Beaubien, R-Barrington Hills, also are slated to attend.
The suggested donation for the game, which will be at the Albert A. Adams Park, 3703 N. Richmond Road, Johnsburg, is $10 for a family, $5 for an individual and $3 for a senior older than 60.
