Sport murder victim family holds charity event

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – A Shreveport murder victim's mother spent Mother's Day weekend honoring her daughter through service.
Amy O'pry, the mother of Kristi O'pry who went missing back in 1996 held a fundraiser Saturday to help victims of domestic violence in the Ark-La-Tex. Back in 2007, confessed serial killer Eric Mickelson admitted to police to killing O'pry, but her remains have yet to be found. The Sisterhood Impact Charity Group, is a group created by the O'pry family. Janet Dodson, a member of Sisterhood Impact, considers the group a way to let Ark-La-Tex domestic violence victims know that someone is there for them. “Even though it's a sad thing, we are here to help others and to help each other,” said Dodson. All proceeds from Saturday's charity garage sale will go towards special projects at the YWCA women's shelter.
Saturday also marked Kristi O'pry's 38th birthday.
