STAMFORD — Megan Kelly was dubbed “the pride of Stamford” by the public address announcer during the award presentations at the second annual Olympic-distance
KIC It Triathlon. However, the Stamford resident was not present to hear the praise. Kelly, a class of 1997 Greenwich High School graduate, was in the medical truck receiving treatment for dizziness after finishing third overall in the women’s division with a time of 2:19:22. In spite of her fatigue, Kelly popped out of the truck with her eyes wide open and a smile on her face. “I feel better now,” the 30-year-old said. “I was just a bit woozy.” The dizzy spell did not affect Kelly too much during the triathlon, and she raved about her performance. “It feels good to get it done,” Kelly said. “I beat my target time by about seven minutes.” Kelly was edged out by Wallingford resident Suzie Snyder, 27, who finished first among women with a time of 2:15:06. Kristin Budden, 31, of Rye Brook, N.Y., finished second in the women’s division at 2:17:05.
Kelly was pleased to take part in the triathlon, which raises funds for Kids in Crisis, a charity in Stamford.
