Stoughton Charity Does It For Diane And The Hungry 2009: Friends Laughter

Stoughton charity does it for Diane and the hungry

Friends, laughter, dancing, and charity were all things that Diane Murray enjoyed.
And now, her family and friends gather annually for the same reasons, in her memory, for a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. “It’s just the kind of thing she would have enjoyed,” said David Fisher, Diane’s husband and a member of the Doin’ It For Diane Committee. For the last four years, Doin’ It For Diane has raised approximately $44,000 to help support two local food pantries &ndash St. Anthony’s Free Market in Sharon and the Ilse Marks Stoughton Food Pantry. According to the group’s Web site, the goal of the group is to offer support, encourage hope, and return dignity to anyone who has fallen on hard times. Through supplying nutritional needs, the group hopes to foster positive self-image in the young, nurture the infirm and aged, and re-affirm goals in the working poor. Fisher said the idea for the annual event, which raised $14,000 a month ago, came about not too long after Murray’s sudden passing in the summer of 2005.
Murray had run road races for the Jimmy Fund and the Greater Boston Food Bank, Fisher said.
