HATS OFF TO YOU: Invercargill woman Roseanne Zyskowski is delighted to finish the Surf to City fun event yesterday.
AMONG the record 4000-plus people to cross the finish line of the Surf to City fun event in Invercargill yesterday, few were as stoked as Roseanne Zyskowski. Most completed the last 4km of the event only. “It felt amazing to finish,” a delighted Roseanne said. “The best thing for myself was to keep on going and moving. I felt proud of myself.” The disabled people, including some in wheelchairs, a blind woman and another with an amputated leg, were part of the large contingent of cyclists, runners and walkers who took part in the event, from Oreti Beach to Queens Park, in sunny conditions. The running section of the Surf to City was won by Ricky Gutsell, 46, who beat many much younger runners to the line in “about 42 minutes”.
“It’s good to keep them (youngsters) honest,” Gutsell said at the finish.
