MILFORD — Brittany Falcigno is not the kind of girl to sit around and do nothing.
And now the teenager, diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes when she was 6 months old, is a concert promoter. On Friday at 7 p.m. an all-ages show that Brittany put together and headlined by the up-and-coming band, Light The City, will serve as a JDRF fundraiser. The concert at the Woodruff Family YMCA on Orange Avenue has four bands on the bill for a $12 admission. “It’s kind of punk-pop-rock,” the promoter said of the show, which also features This Condition, White Rose Confession and The Bride Wore Black. Booking the bands wasn’t hard, the Milford girl said, because she has been to many performances by Light The City and knew the musicians. Her mother, Janine, drove Brittany and a friend through a January snowstorn to see the band play at the Warner Theater in Torrington. “They are very family-oriented and they pray before every performance,” Brittany said. “You don’t see that much.”
The Falcigno family, including Brittany’s dad Rob, sister Alexis, 8 and grandmother Marguerite, have done a lot of fundraising for JDRF over the years and a few months ago, the Hamden chapter was able to raise more than $300,000 at an event where Brittany spoke.
