Terry Saban Appearance Nearly Sold Out 2009: Morgan Wont

Terry Saban appearance nearly sold out

But Morgan won’t miss Tuesday’s meeting.
Terry Saban is the guest speaker. “I’m anxious to hear the woman behind the man,” Morgan said Friday, referring to Nick Saban’s wife. “It’s obvious she’s been a great inspiration to him. “I told coach (Ed) Jones I was coming to hear Mrs. Saban and I was bringing ‘Big C’ with me.” Ed Jones is a longtime Quarterback Club board member. “Big C” is Colin MacGuire, a well-known Alabama fan from Greenville. Jones and other board members have been busy all week taking special requests from nonmembers who want to attend Tuesday’s meeting. Club head coach Perry Hooper Jr. said his phone has been “ringing off the hook” most of the week. “She’s really popular with Alabama fans, I can tell you that,” Hooper said. “I’ve had people call from Luverne, Destin (Fla.), all over the place. There are a lot of wild-eyed Alabama fans out there who want to hear her speak.” Normally such situations create nightmares for board members, who must have enough dinners prepared to meet the demand. The worry is, if attendance is lighter than anticipated, the club still must pay for the dinners.
This time, demand for single-event orders was so heavy, the problem has all but taken care of itself. As of late Saturday afternoon, 205 members and guests had reserved seats to hear Mrs. Saban, according to program chairman David Bowen.
