9:10am Sunday 10th May 2009 PREPARATIONS are being made for Tetbury’s annual Woolsack Races.
Newsreader Alex Lovell, from BBC Points West, will be starting off the races up and down Gumstool Hill this year as well as presenting prizes on the May 25 Bank Holiday. The charity benefiting from the event is Tetbury charity Hope For Tomorrow, which operate the world’s first mobile chemotherapy unit. Woolsack day will also feature a diverse range of entertainment that includes the Gugge 2000 brass band, magicians, jugglers, African drummers and Morris dancers. Stephen Hirst, Tetbury mayor and also on the Woolsack Committee, said he was looking forward to the annual races. “The Gugge band will be fantastic,” he said. “I’m just hoping the weather’s an improvement on last year.
Cllr Hirst added he was glad the event was supporting a local charity.
