The Barfoot &Thompson Auckland Marathon 2023

Every dollar raised will fund brighter futures to Starship children. Get those legs running!

Every child today is a foundation of a fruitful tomorrow, and helping procure a better future for every little kid is an unspeakable social obligation that we all must be aware of. Mobilizing projects like The Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Marathon, equips The Starship Foundation, to be able to fund ward upgrades and expansions, cutting-edge equipment, in support of children and whānau navigating tough times.

Whether with family, friends, or colleagues, help make a mark and pump that adrenaline in a course run. Not fond of running? The marathon is also open for walkers who want to participate in an exciting fund-raising.

The Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Marathon course runs from Devonport on Auckland’s North Shore, through Takapuna to the Smales Farm Bus Station where it joins the Busway southbound to the Auckland Harbour Bridge. After crossing the bridge, the course takes in Westhaven Marina, the Viaduct Harbour (the halfway mark), before heading out along Auckland City’s waterfront. This section of the course is an out and back, with the turn point being in St Helier’s Bay. The return leg follows the same course back to the Viaduct Harbour for a finish at Victoria Park. The first half of the course is best described as “rolling” while the second half, other than two small road bridges, is flat.
