SPRINGDALE &mdash Allyn Lord is always learning.
In fact, there’s not a person who walks into the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History she can’t learn something from, Lord said. “I’m endlessly fascinated by the stories of people’s lives and how material culture can inspire people or help them remember. … I get excited by it.” The museum’s executive director said history wasn’t one of her favorite subjects in school. Instead, Lord focused on a love of ancient things, something she shared with her librarian mother, and pursued a degree in classical archeology. Although people may tire of hearing the expression &mdash “history is about stories” &mdash it is a source of motivation, Lord said. Lord was a registrar at the former University of Arkansas Museum, working in ancient collections for 12 years. It was in her later role as assistant director of Rogers Historical Museum that she began to delve into local history.
