Andrew Yun of Chandler and Kimberly Kim of Queen Creek are among an all-star cast of junior golfers who will be competing in the
10th Thunderbird International Junior tournament May 23-25 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale. The Memorial Day weekend event will feature 78 of the top junior players from 13 states and 12 countries. Yun recently won the Arizona Stroke Play Championship and Kim was the 2006 U.S. Women’s Amateur champion. Open qualifiers Ryan Dillon shot 8-under 64 at Tucson Country Club to lead a local qualifying tournament for the U.S. Open. Others who advanced to sectional qualifying were Nathan Tyler with 66, Matthew Rosen and Creighton Honeck with 67 and Andrew Augustyniak and Yun with 68. Another local qualifier will be played Monday at Encanterra Country Club in Queen Creek. The Open will be played June 18-21 at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y. Nunez tourney set
