Despite the heavy rainfall area residents onceagainmadetheM and M Meat Shops Charity Barbecue Day a success.
The local amount was less than last year’s record $8,131.67, but is still remarkable considering the weather. The all-volunteer event had everything donated, including those people who helped at the event, doing everything from flipping burgers to keeping the hot dogs rolling. The Pembroke Fire Department was on site to advise on barbecue safety. Musicians Chris Gardner and The Whitewater kept the crowd entertained. Stephen Uhler is a Daily Observer reporter
