Three Charged In Theft From Boys Benefit 2009: Vineland Residents

Three charged in theft from boys benefit

Three Vineland residents were charged Friday in connection with the theft of an autographed photo of a Philadelphia 76ers player from a charity event
meant to help a sick child. Leslie Giovanelli, 34, and Adam Scull, 29, were charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft. Marlo Scull, 25, who is Adam Scull’s wife, was charged with tampering with evidence. The framed, autographed photo of 76ers guard Willie Green disappeared April 18 during a benefit for 9-year-old Michael Barner at a Buena restaurant. The Vineland boy has a rare blood disorder. More than 250 people attended the benefit.
The suspects, who know Michael’s family, apparently were unhappy about the rules of an auction in which the photo was a top prize, said Detective Lt. David Sherma.
