Tom Brady Puts Best Foot Forward For Buddies 2009: Brady Along

Tom Brady puts Best foot forward for Buddies

Brady, along with a cavalcade of sports stars and other celebrities, was in Centerville to raise money for the Best Buddies organization.
Hundreds of cyclists rode in one of several challenges – bike rides of 100 miles, 50 miles or 20 miles, a 5-kilometer run and a 3-kilometer walk – to help the group, which enhances the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing one-on-one friendships and integrated job opportunities. Brady served as the honorary chairman of the event – now in its 10th year – and was aided by celebrities including Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis, Miss Teen USA Stevi Perry, Maureen McCormick (Marcia Brady from “The Brady Bunch”) and movie star Verne Troyer, who played Mini-Me in the “Austin Powers” movies. Brady showed his usual willingness to play along for the cause, posing with the diminutive Troyer and visibly buckling his bike helmet before setting off on his ride. (Brady got a bit of a rough time last week after he was photographed by Mark Garfinkel of the Boston Herald biking helmetless around Boston with his bride Gisele’s pooch in the front basket.) Best Buddies was founded in 1989 by Anthony K. Shriver. It has chapters in 1,400 schools and colleges in the United States and abroad. According to Best Buddies, the event raised &363.6 million.
