Some of the world’s most prestigious wines, worth up to GBP60,000 (US$86,000), will be auctioned next month by Berry Bros & Rudd in aid
of the Wine Relief charity appeal. Dinner guests can also bid for a private wine tasting with Jancis Robinson MW and an exclusive tour of some of the top Chateaux. Robinson and restaurant critic husband Nick Lander launched Wine Relief in 1999, as a way for the wine industry to contribute to the bi-annual Comic Relief charity event in the UK. Comic Relief raises money for development projects in some of the world’s poorest countries, but also supports charities in the UK. In addition, Berry Bros. & Rudd is donating to Wine Relief 10% of all sales of Good Ordinary , its best selling wine, in the six weeks leading up to the Comic Relief telethon.
