Last week the Freddie Thomas senior became only the sixth boy, and first in 16 years, to crack the 2,000-point mark. Dukes, a guard who has averaged about 23 per game in each of his four seasons, has 2,108 points. That’s fifth all-time, ahead of Angelica’s Bill Young (2,006). Vyverberg is in his 22nd season at McQuaid, which will play its first Section V Tournament game at 8 p.m. on Feb. 21 at Genesee Valley Ice Rink. Former Irondequoit coach Al Maerz has the Section V record with 303.
