Walk And Roll Moves Along Thanks To Classic Cars 2009: Lover James

Walk and Roll moves along thanks to classic cars

Car lover James Dill is helping a new fundraiser move into overdrive.
He was one of approximately 75 classic car owners to feature their vehicles on St. Mary’s River Drive during the second annual Walk and Roll for Heart and Stroke. Dill brought his 1968 Chevrolet Camaro to the weekend fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. “I heard it was a pretty good show last year,” said the St. Marys Paper operator. “I think we have a pretty good turnout considering the weather. I think there would have been a lot more (participants) if it had been a little more sunny. But it’s not raining.” Dill’s right there. The 2008 fundraiser battled heavy rains in its early hours. It was overcast and just 17 C Saturday afternoon, but the rain held off. Dill, with the help of his 15-year-old daughter Samantha, went door-to-door on Carol Court, Chambers Avenue and Ashgrove Avenue asking for pledges for the Heart and Stroke event. They collected about $150. That’s well above the minimum $15 Dill was asked to contribute to show off the car he’s owned for nearly 30 years.
“People were extremely generous,” he said.
