Whitehaven Zip Slide Fun For Leukaemia Charity 2009: Tuesday 19

Whitehaven zip slide fun for leukaemia charity

Tuesday, 19 May 2009 A 700-foot zip slide is coming to Whitehaven harbour in July.
Leukaemia charity The Anthony Nolan Trust is hosting the event next to the Haig Colliery Mining Museum. The zip slide will take place between 10am and 5pm on Sunday, July 12 and it is hoped that about 150 people will sign up to take part. A crane will be used to take groups of five adrenaline junkies at a time up to a height of more than 100 feet. They will then be hooked onto a wire and zip to the ground over 700 feet away. Anthony Nolan regional fundraising manager Anne Hughes said: “We are really excited about bringing a zip slide to Whitehaven and we’re confident it will be a huge success. “Locals are invited to sign up for what is sure to be a fantastic day out. All the money raised will be used to help save the lives of leukaemia patients and we’re sure that this is something locals will get behind.”
