The tradition of the Michigan football fund-raiser for Mott Children’s hospital is alive and well.
Former Wolverines Brian Griese and Steve Hutchinson will host their third annual charity golf tournament &mdash Champions for Children’s Hearts &mdash on May 17 at the U-M golf course. U-M Health System announced the expected attendees today, and it’s a virtual who’s who of Michigan football, past and present: The list includes Brian Griese (Tampa Bay Bucs) Steve Hutchinson (Minnesota Vikings) Jeff Backus (Detroit Lions) Mike Hart (Indianapolis Colts) Jake Long (Miami Dolphins) Chad Henne (Dolphins) Jon Runyan (Philadelphia Eagles), former U-M coach Lloyd Carr James Hall (St. Louis Rams) former U-M coach Gary Moeller former U-M quarterbacks John Navarre, Scott Driesbach and Elvis Grbac Steve Everitt (St. Louis Rams) College Football Hall of Famers Anthony Carter and Tom Curtis CBS broadcaster Dan Dierdorf Braylon Edwards (Cleveland Browns) John Randle (Seattle Seahawks) Charles Woodson (Green Bay Packers) U-M head coach Rich Rodriguez and WJR-AM (760) radio personality Frank Beckmann. In addition, there will be a gala dinner and silent auction the night before the event. The outing will benefit the new C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital and the U-M Congenital Heart Center. In two years the event has raised more than $650,000.
