“We raised over $16,000 for Yackandandah primary school last year, which was a new record for us,†said Mr Lay, who runs the event
through Online Off Road Tours, a chapter of the Honda Riders Club of Australia (HRCA). “They were able to buy new outdoor play equipment, which has been a real hit with the kids.†To minimise track damage Rod is limiting numbers to 150 riders this year. “The Charity Bash is always a huge success and we want to make sure we can still run it for years to come.†The event will held on Saturday August 1 in the Mount Big Ben State Forest, in Victoria’s northeast, and is extremely popular with off road riders – selling out every year. “The tracks around here are world class, the best I’ve ever ridden,†said Mr Lay, who is the current World Police & Fire Games Motocross and Enduro Champion. Honda Australia will be providing insurance for the event, as well as donating prizes for the charity auction, which takes place at the Yackandandah Hotel after a full day of riding.
“I’m really looking forward to the Yack bash, it’s a great ride and always good fun,†said Rhys Griffiths, Manager of the HRCA.
