Queen’s Birthday Honours

2010 Queen’s Birthday Honours List

375 men and 149 women were celebrated for their services to the community yesterday as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Australian rock legend, the late Billy Thorpe (front man for Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, best known for the track ‘Most People I know, Think That I’m Crazy’) headed the list of Australians who received awards for their tireless charitable work.
His widow accepted the Honour on his behalf, given to Thorpe for his contributions to music.
Other acclaimed recipients of Queen’s Birthday Honours were 3AW’s Neil Mitchell for service to the community, Lieutenant General Peter Leahy for work as head of the Australian Army, former Olympic track and field athlete and cancer survivor Raelene Boyle for work with cancer charities, and golfer Jack Newton for work with diabetes research and junior golf.
But that doesn’t even skim the surface of the hundreds of thousands of people doing really important work for the community, the country and the world.
If you werent lucky enough to receive an Order of Australia, give yourself a pat on the back anyway. You probably deserve it.
Congratulations to all those that were honoured in the Queens Birthday Honors. Well done.
