Veterans and serving members make significant sacrifices in service to their country, while their families provide an often unseen source of strength and support. Recognising their contributions and ensuring they remain connected to their communities is an important way to honour that service.

Returned & Services League of Australia brings together veterans, serving members, families, and supporters while advocating for the wellbeing and recognition of those who have served Australia.

To honour the dedication and sacrifice of service members and their families, the Cairns community will come together for a special annual celebration. The 7th Annual Thank You for Your Service Gala Dinner will be held on Saturday, 31 October 2026, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the Cairns Convention Centre.

The evening provides an opportunity for the Cairns community to express its gratitude to veterans and serving members while remembering those who have served and recognising the families who have supported them throughout their service.

Guests will include veterans, serving members, families, supporters, and members of the wider Cairns community, creating an evening centered on reflection, recognition, gratitude, and community spirit. More than a formal dinner, the event is a chance for the community to come together and acknowledge the people whose service and sacrifice have helped shape Australia’s history.
